CREATING SACRED SPACE FOR THE NEW YEAR

This past weekend, we kicked off our very first class of 2026 with something simple, meaningful, and deeply personal: creating a sacred space for the year ahead.

The heart of the class was this idea—starting the new year begins with having a place that feels good to come back to. A space that’s yours. Somewhere you can rest, reset, breathe, and reconnect when life feels loud or overwhelming. Your sacred space doesn’t have to be elaborate or perfect. It just has to feel right to you.

We talked about how a sacred space can look different for everyone. For some, it’s an altar. For others, it’s a chair by a window, a corner of a bedroom, or a small table that holds meaningful objects. What matters most is intention. This is a place where you pause. A place where you check back in with yourself.

During class, we explored how to build an altar or intentional space using items that hold personal meaning. Crystals, candles, photos, written intentions, or symbolic objects can all be part of it. There are no rules—only what resonates. We talked about choosing pieces that support how you want to feel this year: calm, protected, focused, open, grounded, inspired.

Comfort was another big part of the conversation. A sacred space should invite you in. Soft lighting, a cushion or blanket, a favorite chair, or even a familiar scent can help create that sense of ease. When your body feels comfortable, it’s easier for your mind to settle.

We also discussed tools that help shift energy and support ritual or meditation. Tibetan bowls, for example, are wonderful for clearing a space and bringing your awareness into the present moment through sound. Crystals can be placed intentionally to support grounding, clarity, or protection. Sage, incense, or essential oils can help cleanse stagnant energy and signal that you’re stepping into a different state of mind.

Everyone who attended the class received a small bottle of Florida Water—a beautiful tool traditionally used for energetic cleansing, refreshing a space, and lifting heavy or stagnant energy. It’s simple to work with and can be used to mist a room, cleanse your altar, or even refresh your own energy before meditation or intention-setting.

Each participant also received a special piece of Shungite with pyrite. This stone combination was chosen intentionally for the new year. Shungite carries warmth and steady energy, while pyrite is often associated with strength, confidence, and abundance. Together, they serve as a reminder to return to your space, your intention, and yourself.

Creating sacred space isn’t about doing more—it’s about creating a place to pause. As we move into this new year, having a space that supports you can make all the difference. A place to breathe. A place to reflect. A place to come home to, again and again.
